Privacy Policy

1. Information GearUp collects

• Account and profile data: name, handle, email address, profile photo, interests, authentication provider, and user ID.
• Marketplace content: listing photos and descriptions, category, condition, price, approximate listing location, messages, offers, meetup suggestions, favorites, reports, and blocks.
• Search and location data: search text and filters, saved searches, current coordinates used for nearby results, and rounded or approximate listing coordinates.
• Device and usage data: push notification tokens, platform, product interactions, app events, crash reports, performance information, and diagnostic context.

2. How GearUp uses information

• Provide accounts, profiles, local discovery, listings, messaging, offers, favorites, and saved searches.
• Send messages, offer updates, saved-search matches, and other notifications when enabled.
• Detect prohibited content, investigate reports, enforce blocks, prevent abuse, and protect users.
• Operate account deletion, answer support requests, diagnose crashes, and improve reliability.

3. Location

GearUp requests location access to show nearby gear and help create local listings. Current coordinates may be used for nearby searches and saved distance searches. Listing locations are rounded or displayed as an approximate area rather than an exact private address. You can deny location access, although nearby features may be limited.

4. Service providers and disclosure

GearUp uses providers that process information to operate the app:

• Google Firebase: authentication, database, file storage, and server functions.
• Expo: app delivery, updates, device services, and push-notification infrastructure.
• Sentry: crash reporting, performance monitoring, and diagnostics; reports may be associated with a GearUp user ID and email address.
• Google and Apple: social sign-in and authentication.

GearUp may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, to investigate fraud or abuse, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards. GearUp does not sell personal information.

5. Retention and account deletion

Information is kept while needed to provide GearUp, maintain safety and security, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. You can permanently delete your account from Profile in the app. Deletion removes the authentication account, profile and profile images, listings and listing images, favorites, saved searches, reports you filed, associated analytics records, ratings references, and conversations in which you participated. Deleting a shared conversation also removes it for the other participant. Limited information may be retained when reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, security, legal compliance, or enforcement.

6. Your choices

• Control location, photo-library, and notification permissions in device settings.
• Edit profile and marketplace content using the controls provided in GearUp.
• Unfavorite items, remove saved searches, block users, or delete your account.
• Ask a privacy question or request help by emailing support@gearupmarket.app.

7. Security

GearUp uses access rules, authenticated services, and other reasonable safeguards designed to protect information. No internet or storage system is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

8. Age eligibility

GearUp is intended only for people who are at least 18 years old. GearUp does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a person under 18 is using GearUp, contact support.

9. Changes to this policy

GearUp may update this policy as the service or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be updated, and material changes may also be communicated in the app.
